Fresh Healthy Vending is a relatively young company that has become a fast rising star due to its unique approach to a niche industry with a long history.

The company began life in 2010 under the leadership of CEO Jolly Backer and Board of Directors Chairman Barry Kurtz, both executives with years of corporate experience and Kurtz as a franchise specialist.

The food and beverage vending industry has long been known for providing consumers with products most people would describe as “junk food”. With increased interest in healthy lifestyle choices, Backer and Kurtz thought the market was right to offer vending machines with organic, natural and healthy snack and drink choices such as granola bars and trail mix and fruit and fruit drinks.

Their idea quickly paid off, and in the same year as their founding Fresh Healthy Vending was was chosen to provide healthy snack vending machines in U.S. schools as part of Michelle Obama’s “Let’s Move!” program in response to an epidemic of childhood obesity. The company is also involved with the Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act of 2010 which mandates specific regulations concerning what foods can be placed in school vending machines, working directly with the Senate Agriculture Committee to help implement the law.

Fresh Healthy Vending also sells franchising opportunities to entrepreneurs and recently partnered with Ford Motor company to use their Transit Connect cargo van as their official vehicle.

With such a great start Fresh Healthy Vending seems to have a healthy future indeed.
